Irving Penn's photographs for Issey Miyake have been subjected to hundreds of pages of art books and have also occupied the walls of major museums around the world. Again, the joint work of these two creators of photography and fashion come together in a new exhibit much more complete and special organized in Tokyo by 21_21 Design Sight (The Issey Miyake Foundation) in collaboration with The Irvin Penn Foundation. Under the direction of Midori Kitamura, this time is presented the work of the two artists, together and separately, in a installation designed by the architect Shigeru Ban. In addition to original photographics copies, drawings and large scale projections with images from Penn, and it is also projected an animated film by Pascal Roulin with original drawings by Michael Crawford. For the first time, it is also presented the complete collection of posters from Issey Miyake. In total, a large and carefully selection over 250 photographs by Irving Penn for the Japanese designer result of 13 years working as a team, during which Issey Miyake always gave absolute freedom to the photographer, (even he doesn't appeared in the study). A relationship that began in 1983 when Irving Penn was requested by Vogue America to shoot Miyake's man collection.
